Special Programs

Hammock Camp
Spend a week sleeping at different hammock sites on the Ridge in specially designed hammocks. You will enjoy regular Jr. High activities like rock climbing or high ropes, archery, night hikes, swimming, campfires, special evening events and many other unique outdoor activities.

Performing Arts Camp
This is a great new program for those who are interested in bettering themselves musically and artistically while enjoying a fun week of faith and fellowship. You'll get a chance to participate in worship and campfire skits, lead in playing and singing camp songs, and engage in other Mar-Lu-Ridge activities. You will also enjoy traditional Mar-Lu-Ridge activities in the afternoons.

Night Owl Camp
Do you like staying up late?! Then come to The Ridge for a week of camp just for night owls! This program will let you enjoy a week of great camp experiences with a different twist—stay up later every day, with a final awake-all-night overnight experience, followed by sunrise worship service to top off the week. Enjoy special Mar-Lu-Ridge night activities and other camp experiences along with your old and new friends.

Fishing Camp
If you enjoy fishing, you'll love this week! Bring your fishing gear to learn, practice and enjoy pond, over-night, river and lake fishing with our fishing camp leader, Steve Bagent. Explore our on-site ponds. Take a trip to a local fish hatchery. Learn about varieties of fish, knot-tying, bait selection, and weather effects on fishing. Jr. High Fishing camp includes trips to several secret local fishing spots.

Solutions & Salamanders

Join this science camp for an amazing week of pond studies, rules of physics, basic reactions, animal habitat, predator/prey relationships, special night walks and various projects... all in all, a week to remember. Take a glimpse at the greatness of God's creation and explore our environment through many fun hands-on activities while you also enjoy a variety of traditional Mar-Lu-Ridge activities.

Horseback Camp
Fun and educational! Take a trip to the North Fork School of Equitation in Jefferson, MD every weekday morning to learn basic riding skills, grooming, and general horse care, or sharpen your skills if you're an experienced rider. Five one-hour lessons are included. Enjoy traditional camp activities in the afternoons and evenings.

Rock Climbing
A great program for those who like rock climbing! Spend a whole week climbing at different sites on- and off-site. You will learn about safe climbing, setting up different kinds of climbs, climbing knots, safe belaying, and different climbing techniques. You'll also explore different climbing routes, learn about ratings of different climbs, and take an overnight climbing trip. Rock climbing harnesses, helmets, and climbing hardware (ropes, carabiners, etc.) will be provided. You are welcome to bring any other climbing gear with you (climbing shoes, etc.)

Packs, Paddles & Pedals

Backpack a portion of the Appalachian Trail, see beautiful scenery in untouched natural areas, canoe a few of the local rivers in the mountains of central Maryland, and bike the historic C&O Canal towpath. This week promises to be a challenging, yet rewarding adventure, so gather your gear and join us!

Adventure Camp
A week packed with exciting activities that include whitewater rafting, canoeing, hiking, rock climbing, and a high ropes course. Spend a week outdoors, cook over the open fire, and have a ball with your old and new friends. This program focuses on individual challenges and group work. This is very popular camp and fills quickly, so hurry to register!

Bike Camp
Take a journey on a bike along a 140-mile stretch of the historic C&O Canal towpath, from Cumberland to Point of Rocks, MD. You'll carry your own gear, cook out, and camp overnight along the canal at campgrounds and local parks while you work together within this traveling community of Christ. The trail is flat and very well shaded, with water located every several miles. A highlight is the 3,118 ft. Paw Paw tunnel. This program is lead by our experience Bike Camp leaders, Pastor Tom Perry and Craig Giles, and Mar-Lu-Ridge summer staff.

Canoe Camp
Canoe Camp campers will learn basic skills of canoeing, including instruction in safe boarding and paddling, different strokes, "driving" a canoe, and swamping and rescue techniques. Practice in the pond on camp property, then take a trip to nearby lakes and/or other locations* for days of canoeing, swimming, and cookout dinners. There will also be an overnight canoe trip to top off the week. Depending on water conditions, the program may include paddling down the Potomac River, Shenandoah River, Antietam Creek, and/or other places.

Christmas In July
Your favorite holiday is now in the middle of the summer!  Mar-Lu-Ridge invites you to celebrate the birth of Christ all over again.  Deck the halls, sing carols, eat Christmas cookies, decorate trees, and even enjoy a Christmas dinner. Celebrate this magical season with us at Christmas Worship events throughout the week. Pack your colored lights and don't forget stockings to hang in your cabin, because there's holiday cheer in the air at all programs this Christmas In July week at Mar-Lu-Ridge!

4th of July Extravanganza

This is one of the most popular weeks at Mar-Lu-Ridge! Sunday to Saturday afternoon! More days-more fun at camp celebrating 4th of July at Mar-Lu-Ridge. All camp programs this week will enjoy a Giant 4th of July Bash, including inflatables and games, and will receive a special 4th of July T-shirt. The camp concludes with a parade on Saturday morning! All campers will join in as flag carriers, float designers, decorators, and other parade participants during the extravaganza for parents and friends.
