The Fourth of July was truly an extravaganza! We had apple pie and ice cream after some field games and a pool party. Chalk powder was thrown on counselors and Sr High/SITs and food was thrown on the fire at our cookout dinner. Being free to have fun and to celebrate our nation is important, but is not the most important freedom we learned about today. Campers celebrated American independence while talking about how Jesus paid our sinful debt so that we are free to serve others. This does not mean we are without sin, but instead that our sin does not keep us from serving others; our chains are heavy but bearable thanks to Christ just as the rocks and other weights that campers carried to worship became bearable through an experience of community, love and Christ.
