Group of summer staff

Summer Staff - Cabin Leader & Support

Summer Staff are essential members of Mar-Lu-Ridge’s inclusive and collaborative summer staff. A staff member may be assigned responsibility of cabin leading for a small group of overnight campers on site at MLR, sent to a local church to lead a day-camp program, and/or provide general staff support as assigned.

They are responsible for the care, supervision, and teaching of campers and will build relationships, help campers to feel comfortable, and model Christian faith in community.

All staff will support the ministry and mission of MLR through day-to-day summer camp leadership. Must be at least 18 years of age and a high school graduate.

Cabin Leader & Support

Those who serve as Cabin Leaders and Support Staff are essential members of Mar-Lu-Ridge’s inclusive and collaborative summer staff. In this position, a staff member may be assigned responsibility of cabin-leading for a small group of overnight campers on site at MLR, sent to a local church to lead a day-camp program, and/or provide general staff support as assigned.

Media Coordinator

The Media Coordinator an essential member of Mar-Lu-Ridge’s inclusive and collaborative summer staff. They play a vital role in telling the story of our summer ministry.

This position is responsible for capturing the daily life at camp through photography and video, helping families stay connected and sharing the impact of camp with our wider community through social media and digital platforms. This person may also write stories from the summer to further the mission of Mar-Lu-Ridge and promote camp with donors and prospective visitors.

This position is ideal for someone interested in photography, videography, social media, or digital storytelling in a nonprofit or ministry setting.

Program Coordinator

The Program Coordinator is a member of the Summer Leadership staff and is an essential member of the inclusive and collaborative Mar-Lu-Ridge summer staff. They will assist the Associate Director with day-to-day direction, coordination, and support for summer staff in regards to program activities, schedules, and events for all campers and assist in leading staff meetings.

The PC will support the ministry and mission of MLR through administration and peer leadership. They report to the Associate Director.

Community Support Specialist

The Community Support Specialist is a member of the Summer Leadership staff and is an essential member of the inclusive and collaborative Mar-Lu-Ridge summer staff.

They will provide day-to-day emotional/mental/spiritual direction and support for summer staff and campers. They should mentor staff in the planning and implementation of group worship and bible study. This position will also respond to in-the-moment behavior challenges and will coordinate care plans as needed with camper caregivers and/or camp management team.

Individuals in this position can work with varying age groups and program areas, as well as in various parts of camp every week. The CSS will support the ministry and mission of MLR through mentorship and spiritual leadership. They report to the Associate Director.

Kitchen Staff

Do you love to cook and want to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment? We are looking for kitchen staff to help prepare and serve meals for our campers and staff. If you are a team player with a positive attitude, apply now! Responsible for assisting in all areas of food service, including facilitation of pack-out meals and evening snacks.

No previous food service experience is required. Other duties include meal prep, dishes, cleaning, and serving. Weekend, Part-time, full-time, and hourly positions are available.

Kitchen Staff

Health Care

Being a part of Health Care takes on the responsibility of the general health and welfare of the campers and staff.

They will help screen all participants, maintain records, communicate vital health information with the staff on a need to know basis, communicate about dietary needs and allergies, distribute prescribed medications, provide appropriate first aid, and assist in emergency situations.

Lifeguard

Lifeguards must hold an approved lifeguard certification, with current CPR certification, or will be offered an opportunity for training. Responsibilities include supervising campers in all pool and boating activities and enforcing pool rules, maintenance of the pool, and proper cleaning and storage of equipment.

If full-time and of age, this position will be in a Summer Staff role as well. Hourly, and Full-time positions available.

Facilities & Maintenance

The Summer & Facilities Staff are essential members of the inclusive and collaborative Mar-Lu-Ridge summer staff. The Summer & Facilities Staff will work alongside Mar-Lu-Ridge full time facilities staff to maintain safe and appealing grounds and facilities.

The staff person will also support summer camp programming through general support staff. All staff will support the ministry and mission of MLR through day-to-day summer camp leadership. Full attendance at summer staff training is recommended.

Summer Staff Process

Each staff member goes through a detailed interview/hiring process (including fingerprinting and criminal background checks) and all are required to attend the intensive 10-day staff training in order to ensure an engaging and safe experience for all of our campers.

All staff members review safety regulations during their training programs and receive American Red Cross certification in CPR/First Aid. Staff members trained in specialized programming (high ropes, lifeguarding (American Red Cross), archery) receive additional training.
